SportaaS hosted its inaugural Investor Briefing in Dubai on 9 June 2026 — two days before the opening of the FIFA World Cup 2026, the largest edition of the tournament in history, featuring 48 nations across Canada, Mexico and the United States. The event brought together institutional investors, family offices, private equity and venture capital professionals, and senior industry leaders for an exclusive discussion on the investment opportunities shaping the next era of global sports.

Against the backdrop of a global sports ecosystem estimated to represent a $2.3 trillion opportunity — extending far beyond clubs and leagues to encompass infrastructure, media rights, technology, athlete services and fan engagement platforms — the briefing examined where institutional capital is being deployed and where the most significant value creation opportunities now reside.

"The FIFA World Cup 2026 is the largest sporting event in history. It is also a signal — that sport has become a fully institutional asset class. The question for investors is no longer whether to engage, but how to do so with the discipline and infrastructure that institutional capital requires."

Derek Stewart, Founder & Chief Executive, SportaaS

The briefing featured expert speakers spanning club ownership, infrastructure development, talent development and academies, sponsorship and commercial rights, athlete services, digital transformation, fintech and sports mergers and acquisitions. Speakers included Ravi Bhusari, Scott Miller, Daniel Barriga Caballero, Taff Morris and Nathan Banks.

Institutional capital flows into the sports sector have increased substantially in recent years, with private equity, venture capital, family offices and sovereign investors deploying capital into sport-related assets and businesses globally. The 2026 FIFA World Cup — the first to feature 48 nations — is expected to generate significant commercial opportunity across the broader sports ecosystem, with particular implications for infrastructure, media rights and fan engagement platforms in the Americas and beyond.

The SportaaS Investor Briefing forms part of the firm's ongoing programme of institutional engagement as it advances toward its Q3 2026 fund launch. Further events and briefings are planned across Dubai, London and other key investor markets in the second half of 2026.
